Liat Segal

The piece Signal to Noise Ratio continuously prints messages and noises throughout the exhibition. The messages are printed on a light sensitive material, and the image dissipates shortly after it appears, making way to the following message. The legibility of the messages depends on the signal to noise ratio, but also on the viewer’s attention. In this sense, the noise is what distinguishes the mechanical from the living and human.
