Among the overseas guests at this year’s festival is Ben Vida, an artist and composer from New York. Having emerged from the Post Rock scene in Chicago, he is an active member of the international experimental music community for two decades, with a long list of collaborators, projects and releases to his credit. In recent years he has been developing his own unique approach to analog and digital synthesizers, where musical thought is consciously placed before the technical aspects. To this end he researched and refined a hybrid approach combining the modular synthesis of organic sounds with the benefits of digital processing. The beauty and precision of his electronic music earned him a place as a synth player with acclaimed country musician Will Oldham, also known as Bonnie 'Prince' Billy.
On Wednesday 7.6, he will conduct a workshop with Musrara’s Analogue Research Group, followed by an artist talk where he will discuss his work (see Workshops).
